How Are You Affected by Health Care Reform? – Part 1

Health Care reform… “What does it do for me?” “Is it going to be free?” “Will there be waiting lines at doctor offices?” “What about rationing?” These are all legitimate questions and will be addressed over the next few weeks.

Efforts to change the delivery system of health care in the U. S. goes back over 100 years. However, the most well known attempt at reform was as recent as 1994 during the Clinton administration. The overriding goal of reform debate has been to get all Americans insured and relieve the system of treating patients who had no insurance.

Providers then would shift the cost (I.e. cost shifting) to those who could afford to pay out of pocket or who had insurance. Consequently, the well to do and insured Americans saw their costs of health care rise disproportionately over time along with the premiums for health insurance.

Since the failure of the 1994 attempt at reform, the health care system introduced “Managed Care” plans. These plans offered discounts in premiums to steer insureds into certain blocks of providers. These plans had a number of different looks, but the most common in the West Texas area was PPO plans.

Managed Care plans helped alleviate the cost shifting stress for a while, but failed to bring more uninsured folks into the system. Eventually, as the number of uninsureds rose, premiums were forced higher and higher until today where it is not unusual for a family premium to be more than a house payment.

Most estimates say 47 million Americans are without health insurance today. The original goal of reform debate when it was seriously renewed in 2008, was to force that 47 million people into the cost sharing arena.

By March 23, 2010, the result of reform provided only modest incentives for those 47 million to participate in cost sharing system. Rather, the result ended up as insurance reform.

On March 23, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). On March 30, 2010, the President signed into the law the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HCERA), adding certain amendments to PPACA. Combined the two laws comprise health care reform.

The end result of reform will not reduce costs. The primary focus intended to get those 47 million Americans in the system as participating financial contributors by forcing them to purchase health insurance or open the health insurance markets up to insure those with pre-existing health conditions.

The incentives to get more people into the system include:

-tax credits for businesses who offer and help pay for insurance
-penalties to individuals and families who do not buy insurance
-elimination of pre-existing health condition exclusions by health insurance carriers
-premium subsidy payments to individuals and families who could not afford insurance
-expansion of Medicaid

These mandates along with a host of other mandates will be phased in over the next seven years, with the majority required by January 1, 2014. It is on this date that subsidies, penalties, and adult pre-existing condition limitations begin. Other prominent provisions begin on that date as well:

-State run “Health Insurance Exchanges” must be operating
-Policies may no longer include limitations on annual benefits
-Wellness programs begin
-Group plans will not be able to extend waiting periods for insurance eligibility beyond 90 days
-Employers must begin to “certify” coverage.

Other mandates require insurance companies to install important provisions by September 23, 2010:

-Dependent children, whether married or unmarried, student or non-student may remain as dependents until age 26
-Group health plans may not set lifetime maximum benefit amounts on “Essential Health Benefits”. The Dept of Health and Human Services will be determining what “Essential Health Benefits” are by September 23
-Children under age 19 who have a pre-existing condition must be “guaranteed issue”

Can California Health Insurance Rate Reviews Stop Excessive Rate Hikes?

Last year, California was granted the power to scrutinize proposed health insurance rate increases by insurance companies. Insurance companies planning to increase their plan premiums by more than 10 percent are subject to rate reviews. Excessive premium increases would necessitate insurers to publicly justify the unjust rate hikes.

Despite the implementation of rate reviews, little help is seen by millions of consumers. California health insurance premiums continue to skyrocket making it hard for Californians to afford health care coverage.

Even though California can publicly shame and persuade insurers to prevent proposed increases, it still lacks the power to reject the proposed excessive rates by insurance companies. The state couldn’t even stop Anthem Blue Cross from increasing one of its coverage rates by 16.1 percent even though it was publicly declared that the planned rates were excessive.

Consumers Demand California Health Insurance Rate Regulations

Since 2002, Californians have seen a 153 percent increase in employer health insurance. Because of this, the desire to regulate California health insurance premiums increased more than ever. Consumer groups want regulators to do more than embarrass and persuade. They want to put an end to excessive premium increases. A consumer advocate group even stated that they will begin gathering signatures from people to help set up real rate control.

Even though the Department of Insurance was able to reduce, postpone and withdraw 50 out of the 300 rate changes last year, it’s not enough. According to Deputy Commissioner Janice Rocco, in order to adequately protect consumers, having the authority to reject excessive California health insurance premium increases is necessary. However, there are still ways that consumers can afford health coverage despite increasing premiums.

How Can Consumers Afford California Health Insurance Plans?

If you are living on a tight budget, you might be pondering whether to get health care coverage or not with premiums on the rise. There are still ways to help people afford the health coverage they need.

A high-deductible health plan is an option for people who are in good health. Compared to co-pay plans, high-deductible plans offer lower premiums by as much as 40 to 50 percent. With the passage of the health care reform law, high-deductible plans are appealing more than ever. Preventive care services are 100 percent covered with no out-of-pocket costs even before meeting your deductible. Meaning, annual physical exams and screening procedures for health conditions can be enjoyed without worrying about co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles.

You can use this added free benefit as long as you go with in-network providers. Constantly monitoring your health can help keep money in your pocket. Early detection of illness can significantly decrease your out-of-pocket medical expenses. As we all know, developing a chronic illness is harder to treat resulting in expensive medical bills.

Now is the time to get a California health insurance plan. Once you have a pre-existing condition, insurance companies can charge you higher premiums or even deny you coverage. Without health coverage, you are financially exposed to huge medical bills when illness strikes. Luckily, insurers cannot deny children with pre-existing conditions health coverage due to the Affordable Care Act mandate. As for adults, you need to wait until 2014 when health care reform fully takes its course.

While your health is good, get coverage now to keep rates low. You should also do some comparison shopping every year to get the most affordable health insurance rates from insurance companies in your area.

The Impact Of Shift Work On Health

The health and motivation for shift work has been known to have its own peculiar demands. This has set it apart from jobs that have traditional hours of work. Shift work has its own health merits. The shift work has been created to aid workflow processes between employer, employee and tasks at hand. Over the years, it has been noticed that workers identified in shift work often receive better health plans, health products and remuneration and by this, give shift workers time to do other tasks or personal chores while being watchful of individual mental health.

However, the scientific and medical communities report continually that shift workers concerned stand an increased risk of certain health disorders and mental health challenges that have severe negative impact on the general well-being of work shift staff which may not be achieved until the right health products are used.

There is a concern for the 9 to 5ers, as one sees a case of the health of those who barely get by with the hard life of routine which most times is viewed to compensate only the boss at the top. Furthermore, we sought to consider those who work less conventional hours that include working shifts at night. Any way it is looked at, an adequate welfare plan should be in place for them while introducing supplements of health products.

Researchers have discovered that those more at risk of suffering certain mental health challenges and chronic ailments or diseases, are shift workers, such as flight attendants, police officers, doctors, bartenders, nurses, and the like. Shift work can be classified as any type of work schedule that involves hours that are uncommon, or unusual when comparing this type of work schedule with the traditional work schedule that occurs within the day between 6 am and 6 pm.

For clarity, the term shift work can refer to rotating shifts, working overnight, evening shifts and other flexible shift patterns desired or arranged by the employer that also addresses the challenge of mental health in shift work platforms. In other to assist shift workers, first aid boxes can be kept handy and filled with health products for shift workers.

It’s been recorded by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), that over 16.8% salary workers and full-time wage workers are employed to work alternative shifts. Another interesting discovery made is that evening shifts are the most common alternative shifts, which have their working hours starting at between 2 pm and midnight. Work schedules may also constantly change as a result of irregular work shifts that also result in mental health and hormonal imbalances.

In this article, we take a look at what the resultant effects of what shift work are, what shift workers can potentially do in other to lower their risks of diverse health problems and what salient reasons could possibly be behind these findings. The mental health and prescribed health products of shift workers should not be left unaddressed as this plays an important role in the health and total well-being of the workers.

At first glance, it appears as though shift workers have and work different hours compared to the regular workers’ typical 9-to-5 routine. Reports also show that this is not the only underlying factor, as one key factor also is an increased risk of some diseases.

Some medical associations such as the Medical News Today have reported on studies that relate lack of usage of health products and increased risk of certain health problems with shift work. These relationships have seen discoveries ranging from the predictable to the most amazing jaw-dropping situations.

A reputable medical journal published a meta-analysis in 2014 which suggested that shift workers face an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. This is a red flag. Taking into consideration, shift workers rotating shifts also face an increased risk of 42%. So we see a need for the inclusion of health products as ready supplements for shift workers.

Interestingly, shift workers who rotate night shifts for 15 years and above were found to potentially increase the health risk of lung cancer

Overcoming the Stigma of Online Degrees

Recent studies have shown that a college or university postgraduate education yields on average one million dollars more in the employment lifetime of a person with a degree. The recent recession has prompted many workers and even those unemployed to upgrade and retool for future job prospects. Many are choosing to go online to upgrade their education. Online degrees and their credibility are no longer questioned by many employers.

What do employers think about online degrees?

Many employers looking for skilled labor have turned to online job banks. The new managers who are well aware of the value of online research are also equally aware of the educational potential of online universities.

Will Your Employer Accept Online Degrees?

There’s no way to answer that question without knowing the history of your company but many progressive thinking companies are recruiting directly from job banks. One reason may be the familiarity with the online system and the ease at which they can access information.

Are Online Degrees respected?

Most online colleges require that their faculty members have masters or doctorate degrees prior to instructing classes. Many of these instructors also teach on-campus courses.

Why an Online Degree?

The question to ask yourself is why would you want an online degree? What benefits do you think you will derive from studying alone? Although you’ll have plenty of resources to work with, you won’t have the peer pressure that many students on campus use as motivation for success.

Before embarking on a search for online courses, it would be wise to take a self-assessment test to see if you would be compatible with working alone. You have to set your own hours, manage your own schedule around everything that you have to do in life. For many adults with the pressure of children, work and hectic lifestyles, scheduling in school might be more than they can handle.

Although the idea of campus life might seem thrilling for the young, older adults or couples with young children would find it difficult to navigate the pressures of school, family and work if they had to show up for classes every day. Thankfully, online education is on par with campus learning.

One of the main reasons why the old stigma of online education has lessened significantly over the last few years has to do with the evolution of management. As more managers graduate with online degrees, they realize what it takes emotionally, financially and psychologically to succeed in this new way of learning.

Industry professionals remark that online degree programs offer the same benefits as the traditional classroom. Greater acceptance of online education means more options for the general public in regards to education and future employment.

Affiliate Program
An affiliate or an associate program is essentially an arrangement. In this arrangement, an online merchant will pay an affiliate a certain predesignated commission for sending traffic to his site. The commission will only be paid, if a user visiting the site buys the products and services of the site. Typically, an agreement between an online merchant and an affiliate is sales based. But, in certain cases it can also be based on the number of people sent by the affiliate or also in accordance with a particular action performed by the people visiting the site. An affiliate program is beneficial to both the merchant and the marketer as both players can benefit from it, without making a whole lot of investment in the bargain.

Affiliate Network
An affiliate network is like a link between affiliates and merchant affiliate programs. Take the case of a health affiliate network. Sites That Offer A Cash back Guarantee
If you want to make an offer to your potential customers in the form of great deals and discounts, these are kind of affiliate sites that you can use.

Non-High Volume Sites
These are sites that can be used in a collective fashion. Use a group of such sites and work on them collectively. These are the kind of sites that focus on search engine optimization or pay-per-click advertising

Heads Up Poker Tournament Play – Winning When It Matters Most

Who came in 2nd place in last year’s Super Bowl?

OK, not everyone keeps track of American football…

So…who came in 2nd place in last year’s World Cup?

Can’t remember – me either. I’m lucky to remember who won! For the most part, almost nobody remembers the player who comes in 2nd place in a poker tournament, either…

Who won the 2003 World Series of Poker? Chris Moneymaker
How about the 2005 WSOP? Greg Raymer
And in 2006? Joe Hachem https://spboasia88.xn--6frz82g/

Who came in 2nd place in any of those tournaments? No idea…

And you’d have to do some homework to figure that out!

In addition to the notoriety, the bulk of the tournament purse money goes into the pocket of the Champion – who comes in 1st place. The difference between 1st and 2nd place is much more than the money, too.

The Champion gets the press, gets talked about in all the blogs, the winner gets their picture on Poker Stars (at least the WSOP winner does!). The winner is who gets remembered. Nobody really cares much for who comes in 2nd place in any competitive game or sport…

Well, now it should be clear why understanding how to win at heads-up play is so important. So, let’s talk about how to do it, and how to win heads-up more consistently.

First, it helps to think about the odds. What are the odds of Player A winning a particular hand vs. Player B when playing heads-up? Answer: It’s dead even! Both of the players have the exact same odds – it’s a coin toss…until someone bets!

If you’re familiar with American football, there are two types of basic plays: running plays and passing plays… In a passing play, when the quarterback throws the ball, there are three possible outcomes:

1. Ball is “incomplete”, nobody catches it – LOSE

2. Ball is “complete”, receiver catches it – WIN

3. Ball is “intercepted”, defense takes over – LOSE

It’s similar in poker. When you are dealt a hand in poker (any hand), you have three outcomes:

1. Your hand remains “incomplete” and you fold – LOSE

2. Your hand is “beaten” in a showdown – LOSE

3. Your hand is the winning hand – WIN

4. Your hand could be beaten, until you bet/bluff – WIN (some %)

In all of these cases, you can only win chips IF YOU BET. The thing is, the odds of either of the two heads up player drawing a strong starting hand aren’t very good, so chances are excellent you both
have a loser hand at the outset.

When you are first to act and you BET, you force the other player to look at their hand and make a decision – to either call that bet with (likely) a lousy hand or just fold and save some chips.

So, in heads-up play, you should generally play much more aggressively than you would normally in regular play, realizing that both you and the other player are most likely to have crap hands.

You need to use betting as a means of controlling the action and winning as many of what would otherwise be “crap shoots” as you can.

By winning the crap shoots (where you both have crap hands), you come out on top, and take down perhaps 2/3 of the hands – the ones you can win with a great starting hand or actual hand, PLUS
the ones you win through a successful bet/bluff strategy! This often makes the difference between winning and losing heads-up.

Does that make sense? Is it helpful? (hit “Reply” and let me know what you think, and if you have some other heads-up suggestions to share)

So, here are the BASIC rules you can use when playing heads-up poker:

Are Covid-19 Vaccines Promoting the Formation of Stealth Adapted Variant Coronaviruses?

Public Health officials seem not to realize the probable role of Covid-19 vaccines in hastening the development of stealth adapted coronaviruses. Indeed, they have still not accepted the existence of widespread human infections with stealth adapted monkey-derived viruses. These viruses were inadvertently introduced into humans from polio vaccines. This occurred as the consequence of using polio vaccines grown in the cultured kidney cells of cytomegalovirus infected monkeys.

A faulty assumption is that the current Covid-19 vaccines provide immunity that is comparable to that of natural infections. This is clearly not so. First, the vaccine is given by intramuscular injections, whereas natural infections occur via the respiratory mucosa. Intramuscular injections are not particularly effective in stimulating the development of mucosal immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies or resident cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). The lowered level of vaccine induced mucosal immunity means that upon exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus, a proportion of vaccinated individuals will likely acquire a persisting, subclinical infection that is restricted to the superficial respiratory mucosa. Public Health authorities allude to this possibility by insisting that those who are immunized will need to continue wearing masks. The persisting low-level infections will, however, provide the opportunity for the emergence of virus variants. Some of these will be more infectious, while others will be better able to evade vaccine evoked immunity and, therefore, become more widespread throughout the body.

The second major difference between the vaccine and natural infection is FDA’s allowance of the use of a single virus component in the vaccine, namely the spike protein. It is far easier for virus modification, or even deletion, of a single component than it is for concurrent changes to occur in the multiple antigens targeted by immunity to natural infections. Deletion of the spike protein is possible since coronaviruses have other means of entering into cells. The virus can then more easily undergo changes in the remaining genes that code for the relatively few virus components typically targeted by cellular immunity.

The persistence of subclinical infections due to the relative lack of mucosal immunity achieved by intramuscular injections and the systemic immune response being restricted to only the spike protein, can lead more rapidly than will natural infection, to the formation of stealth adapted coronaviruses. A corollary of this premise is that the English, South African, and Brazillian variants probably originated in individual participants of the Covid-19 vaccine trials conducted in each of the countries. With wider vaccine use, many more variants, including stealth adapted coronaviruses, are to be expected.

Stealth adaptation has another very concerning feature. It is the incorporation of additional genetic sequences that are probably required for the virus to regain infectivity. The added sequences can come from the cellular genome and from the genomes of other microbes. This has, for example, allowed polio vaccine derived stealth adapted viruses to bring monkey cellular sequences into humans.

The brain is particularly susceptible to symptomatic illnesses caused by stealth adapted viruses. These viruses can be cultured from patients with the chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and also from children with autism. The Long Covid syndrome has many clinical features in common with CFS. Until proven otherwise, the Long Covid syndrome should be considered as a viral illness with the potential of human to human transmission, including during pregnancy. It is critical to begin culturing blood samples from patients with the Long Covid syndrome and to sequence any resulting viruses.

Although the cellular immune system will normally not engage with stealth adapted viruses they can still be suppressed via the alternative cellular energy (ACE) pathway. This pathways has likely preceded photosynthesis in plants and the obtaining of energy by all life forms from the metabolism of food. In humans and animals, the brain is probably the major receiver of the life-force energy for the ACE pathway. The attracted energy is then transferred to the body’s fluids where it is expressed as an added kinetic activity. The energy is termed KELEA, an abbreviation for Kinetic Energy Limiting Electrostatic Attraction. KELEA can also be added to water, which is then termed KELEA excellerated water. Wearable pouches containing this water and inhaling nebulized mists from the water are being evaluated as simple means of enhancing the ACE pathway. These approaches can seemingly suppress both conventional and stealth adapted virus illnesses.

Golden Retriever Breeder –

At this point I hope you’ve wisely chosen to stay away from the pet stores and started looking for a respectable Golden Retriever breeder. With the Golden Retrievers being very popular dogs, you are likely to find several breeders around. The tricky part is finding a respectable Golden Retriever dog breeder who’s in it not for money but for the love of breed. Of course it may not be an easy task, but with the right approach you are sure to succeed. At the end of the day, it’s definitely worth the efforts. So let’s have a look at what makes up a good breeder.

A good way to start is by looking through ads in local newspapers, surfing the web or contacting your local division of the American Kennel Association. Once you’ve found a number to call try to make an appointment at once. Of course you can discuss some issues on the phone but it is the case when seeing once is better than hearing twice.

When visiting the breeder don’t be shy to ask questions. The breeder expects you to try to get to know more about the puppies and the breeding pair. Respectable breeders also love to talk about their breed of dogs, which can not only be good for making a conversation but also for learning from the experienced owner. Ask breeders why they chose this breed of dogs, for how long have they been breeding them, if they are planning to keep any of the puppies for themselves.

You would also want to find out more about the breeding pair. Reputable breeders will gladly tell you about their dogs and competitions and ribbons they won. They also won’t shy away from letting you spend some time with the breeding pair so that you could get a feeling of their personality. Be sure to ask about the dogs’ health conditions. Most of health problems like hip dysplasia or cataract are passed genetically and are the result of bad breeding. So there is no excuse for a reputable breeder not to have his dogs checked by the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). The result of examination is an X-ray based medical protocol the breeder should be willing to show you upon your request.

Do not be surprised or embarrassed if the breeder starts asking you questions. Just answer the questions because actually that’s a very good sign. It means the breeder tries to find out where the puppy is going to go, if it is a good home with good people who are going to care about the pup. And if you know that the breeder cares the most about his puppies finding a good home, then my congratulation, you’ve found the right breeder.

Naturally, there may be a downside in adopting a puppy from a reputable breeder. You might be put on the list. Breeding dogs is the first-come-first-server business, so chances are that all the puppies are already booked out and you might have to wait for another litter. I know it’s not the situation you’ve dreamed about because you probably want to have your very own Golden as soon as possible. t

How to Find a Cheap Trip to Croatia

It’s the question on everyone’s lips, you work to save money to go on holiday and when you get some time off work you want to go on the best holiday you can for the money you have. Though holidays always seem to be very expensive there are plenty of tricks that can ensure you can have a great holiday abroad for a good price.

One recommendation for a cheap holiday is going to Croatia. Some might not know that much about Croatia as a holiday destination but it’s a brilliant place to visit.

The best way to get to Croatia is the budget airlines, with Jet2, Ryanair and Easy Jet flying to more than one destination in Croatia. I’d recommend that you don’t restrict yourself to flying to one specific city but find the cheapest flight you can and travel around in Croatia. When visiting there we wanted to go to Dubrovnik but the cheapest flights were to Split, so we flew to Split then took the ferry down to Dubrovnik. With the ferry, it’s a beautiful journey down the Dalmatian Coast great for seeing the sites of Croatia.

Once you are in Croatia it’s better to stay in the guest houses, they are cheaper, friendly and you get to learn more about the local culture. The thing I noticed most about Croatia is the friendliness of the people. I can honestly say that I’ve never been to a county with people as friendly and helpful as they are in Croatia. The owners of the guest houses will go out of their way to help you out. Trips to the shops, site seeing tours and lifts to your boat/bus/flight are usually provided free of charge. Also the Croats speak very good English so if you can’t speak any Croatia you can still get by.

If you are going to stay in Dubrovnik, I can strongly recommend staying at Vila Klaic. Accommodation in Dubrovnik is expensive compared the rest of the country and it’s difficult to find a bargain near the city centre. Vila Klaic is only 10 minutes walk from the centre, is much cheaper than the alternatives and has the most welcoming owner you are ever likely to meet. The owner Milo will go out of his way to help you out with anything you need and provides a great breakfast in the morning.

Finally and probably most importantly Croatia do not have the Euro, therefore their prices are significantly cheaper then counties with the Euro. Going out for a meal in Croatia is about half the price of going out in Spain.

Introduction to Tamil Recipes and People

History of Tamil People

Tamil people are part of the South Indian group of Indians. There is an ongoing discussion and argument about whose language and culture are foremost among the peoples of Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra states. We will leave it at that because once upon a time they were all brothers from one family according to legends and epics.

There is of course recorded history about the Dravidian people. Now the Tamils are all over the world. Majority lives in South India and the rest scattered around north Srilanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, Fiji and in Caribbean islands.

The three royal dynasties of brothers are called the Cholas, Pandyas and Cheras. They date back to the third century AD.

History of Tamil Recipes

Indiahas far advanced today and what the west thought of it as an impoverished hungry continent is no longer valid. Food is available every where in India, is affordable and is reasonably priced in India.

Maduraiis the center of Tamilnadu for culture and language. Tamil Sangam in Madurai is a center for Tamil literature. This goes back to the 6th century AD. Tamil recipes for idli and dosa are mentioned in the 5th century AD.

The Tamil idli is said to have been derived from two words, for spread and boil. ‘Itu’ means lay or spread or pour and ‘avi’ means to boil. Therefore, pour and boil is how idli is made and is appropriately named.

The word idli was mentioned in 920 AD, and there is even a description about the recipe. It is of course rather unlike ours today, as it seems to have been made of urad dal fermented with no rice flour at all and soaked in butter milk rather than water. There was also a mix of spices like cilantro, cumin, (perungayam) asafetida and pepper in it.

Dosa and vadai are mentioned too, seems like they also have been around for two thousand years in Tamil culture and food. Tamil recipes are not new but ancient and they have been modified a few times to what they are today.

The Staple Food is Rice

The Tamils love their rice. Rice is an important staple food for most. The most popular and loved breakfast items are made of rice like Idli, Dosa, and Idyappam.

White rice in Tamilnadu is not eaten plain like the rest of the world does. Most Asians like the Japanese, Chinese, Koreans and others can eat white rice just plain but not the south Indian. He needs to have some kind of to pour on it, mix and then it with his fingers.

That’s the best part. Why use the fingers because it is tasty when you touch food, tongue and the skin of your fingers. There is magic in taste when you do that compared to a spoon or a fork. More ever, traditional Tamil food is served on a banana leaf which adds great flavor to any food served hot on it.
